The Adrian College Music Department is dedicated to the development of excellence in music performance and teacher preparation. Adrian College is a small liberal arts college located in southeastern Michigan and is fully accredited by both state and national review boards.
Our friendly faculty hold advanced degrees in music from some of the finest schools and conservatories in the United States. The student to teacher ratio is 8:1 allowing for individualized attention to student learning. We offer bachelors degrees in Music Performance (BM), Music Education (BME), Musical Theater (BA), and Arts Management (BA), as well as a minor in music.
Each semester, over 200 students participate in vocal and instrumental ensembles at Adrian College. Our ensembles are open to all students and include students from every academic area on campus.
Our Mission Statement: The program in Music challenges students to achieve excellence in musical performance through active and creative learning in a supportive community. This is accomplished through a series of required and elective courses in applied music, performance, theory, history, and a senior capstone solo recital. Students graduating with a major in music will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in the synthesis of preparing and performing music based on informed historical and theoretical practice. The program is designed to prepare students to engage fully in the creative arts; think critically as they explore and reasonably synthesize multiple points of view; make connections across disciplines; and continue to pursue knowledge throughout one’s life.
